 The province of Como was inhabited even in pre-historic times ; during the Bronze Age there was a civilization with usages and customs, the so-called
"Gola-secca" civilization.
Nowdays, we can observe the findings of this civilization in the civic museum of Como.During the Roman-age, the Como territory becomes important thanks to the foundation of �Novum
Comun�.

The artistic development around Lake Como, which can be found continously throughout the centuries, gravitates on the ancient Via Regina, that runs along the bank of the lake and has linked Como and Lombardy to Europe since the Roman age.
This road started in Como and ran along Lake Como up to Samolaco in the Val Chiavenna and represented the most significant expression of trade and culture of middle-age lario . This process generated a flourishing of important local artistic works in almost every part of the
territory.
 Another important and characteristic period for the artistic development of our area was between the end of 18TH century and the beginning of the 19Th century because many villas were built for the Italian and foreign nobility. Our lake was called �the lake of queens�. Today, we can admire the �Villa d�Este, villa Erba,Pliniana,Pizzo, Passalaqua and many
others�.
